Have you ever been startled by a strange noise in the kitchen but in the end, it was just your fridge? This is because it’s common for refrigerators to make some operational sounds.
Read below to learn about these different noises, why your fridge makes them, and which ones you should be concerned about.
If you hear a rattling noise this is normal it comes from the fridge’s compressor and it may sound like a car engine running. This noise will occur in intervals increasing and decreasing over time as the fridge goes through its operations.
A bubbling sound is also normal it’s caused by refrigerant and gases moving through the fridge’s pipes just like the other sound it will gradually grow louder and dissipate during different cycles.
Similarly, a knocking or cracking noise is nothing to worry about when the temperature of the fridge fluctuates the plastic parts inside of it shrink and expand creating the knocking noise.
If you hear a buzzing or humming noise from the inside of the fridge it could mean that the water hose is not connected to the water inlet unless the noise is very loud there’s no need to be concerned. If you don’t use it often you can turn off the icemaker to minimize the sound.
Some other harmless operational noises you might hear our beeping sounds when the doors are open a blowing sound from the circulation fans banging from ice being created or hissing from the defrost heater again these noises are completely normal unless they are really loud.
